Iowa 80 – Worlds Largest Truckstop….Burger

On a recent trip to Iowa we passed the World’s Largest Truckstop known as Iowa 80. It was a site to see with all those semi-trucks parked, fueling and realizing that they weren’t even close to capacity. Immediately I figured, if I was a delicious burger where would I be? Well the World’s Largest Truckstop of course. We hit the Iowa 80 Cafe with high expectations and with all the trucker folks sitting at various tables having trucker talk I was anxious to eat what I though would be a deliciously amazing burger. Hopdoddy Burger Bar in Austin, Texas

If you were in Austin and it was your last burger ever where would you go? That was the question I asked my Austin native food guide today and the answer was Hopdoddy’s. Hopdoddy in Austin, TX is a beer and burger bar focused on local and quality. When you go to a place on a Tuesday evening and the line is out the door your excitement level can have a tendency to go up a few notches and thus was the case with the Hopdoddy burger experience. Firehouse Burger in Springville is darn good!

Today we ventured to Springville, UT to experience Firehouse Burger in all its glory. I’ve been hearing good things about Firehouse Burger and with its location where the old BrandX (of local fame) once stood it had big shoes to fill. I’m happy to report that Firehouse Burger is better than BrandX ever was and hopefully you’ll get a chance to check it out in the near future. Upon opening the front door I was overwhelmed with the smell and smoke of a good burger drive-in and the hand written specials including the “Most Popular” Red Devil burger and the “Yummy” Ladder 41 burger my heart skipped a beat in anticipation of what might be created by this place. Culver’s Utah Butterburger Review

Culver’s is now a Utah burger option which is always exciting to announce. Culver’s opened up in Midvale near Winco a few weeks ago and is already rolling. Lehi Bakery Donut Burger

I went to the Lehi Bakery today (on historic Lehi Main Street) and was glistened with the scents of amazing donut masterpieces as I opened the front door. As I gazed at the wall of donut trays and the beauty that was baked pastry goodness I was startled to see a burger staring back at me. Two burgers to be precise. They looked out of place but attractive next to the square glazed, the coconut donut and the maple bars but I knew that as a connoisseur of burgers it was my job to buy, eat and then review the Lehi Baker Donut Burger. I am no longer a White Castle virgin. That’s right, it happened. Last night I experienced my first White Castle slider, White Castle cheeseburger, White Castle A1 slider, White Castle bacon cheeseburger and White Castle fries. In other words, I got my White Castle on. I immediately had a combination of interesting scenes go through my mind including a little Harold and Kumar mixed with the White Castle Under Cover Boss episode I watched recently, both very different yet intriguing. Serving Time Cafe Prison Cheeseburger

The Serving Time Cafe is located at the Utah State Prison in Draper, Utah and was most recently known as Hard Times Cafe (thanks to trademark issues the name is changed). Pulling in to the Utah State Prison parking lot is always a good time and I’ll admit the first time there I was a little anxious to make it to the right place….it is a prison. Luckily all signs point to the Serving Time Cafe which is located in one of the front trailers. There are a few outside tables for seating with another 15-20 seats inside. The place is run by inmates who have obviously worked hard for permission to work in the Cafe and you can feel their passion for food and freedom as soon as you walk in. The staff looks experienced and ready to serve and other than the trailer you’re eating in and the fact that you’re at the prison, the food is delicious. Continue Reading >>>
